Losers throwing up the white flag when it becomes more than obvious that a comeback is not even theoretically possible has been a part of basketball probably since the beginning, but I can definitively state it’s been that way since the ‘80s when I first started watching. That’s a little more than 10 years.


Now, I’ve also seen teams never throw up the flag, and nobody cares. If that’s the way they want to play it, so be it. They usually just lose by even more, but so what. Fight till the end. Makes for ugly and pointless basketball, but nobody cares.


As far as the KSU guy, he needed to chill. The game was over. But he didn’t. He took advantage of the winner relaxing in the final second and attempted to pad his own stats. Which, whatever, he can do that, but the winner guy can decide to show him what’s what by blocking the crap out of him. The stare down afterwards was tech worthy, but that should have been the end of it. The KSU bench should not have started a brawl over it.
