First, if we finish the season ranked, I consider it a successful season. That is something we play for every year regardless of division or conference... but haven't done it for quite a while consistently.

If we win a bowl game while ranked, that's a great season.

If we beat Utah, that's icing.

Playing big name teams in big name stadiums is a huge contributor to my enjoyment of the season.

Anything above that is probably not going to happen until we're in a P5 conference or have an absolutely unbelievable season.

So all these people saying we need to "play for something". Well, how about we just play for top 25? Let's start there. If P5 ever comes calling, my standards will change.

Who won the AAC, MWC, Sun Belt, Conf-USA, and Mid-American last year? I bet almost no one on this board could name 3 without looking it up and it was just a month ago. Yet most on here could tell you most or all of the P5 champs, even for the last few years in many cases. No one cares about G5 Champs.

Side note: Remember the days of waiting for the polls to come out every week to see where BYU was ranked? Those were the days.
