People pay for a reclining seat and that space is actually their space. If you
don't like it you can adjust by buying a first class ticket or reserving the seat in front of you. Next time you fly with your family you should put a family member in front of you and not next to you. I would be willing to accept a discount on flights for a seat that doesn't recline but I specifically pay for and select a seat that does recline. If you want me to not recline my seat we can discuss a price.

I'm 6'4". Sometimes there is literally nowhere for the seat in front of me to recline into. But that doesn't always stop
