It is extremely sad Kobe, his daughter, and 7(?) Other people died in that crash
Today, but there seems to be a bit of an overreaction. There were calls to cancel games today and now there are calls to retire the number 24 across the league. Even Jordans number is only retired by 2 teams (also imo it is really weird the heat did it since he never played there).

Kobe wasn't even in the league anymore so calling for current games to be cancelled seemed odd, especially for teams that he never even played for. No games were cancelled for Stern's death, and I get that wasn't nearly as surprising/dramatic.

Kobe was a force to be reckoned with on the court and was the ultimate competitor. He made the NBA fun whether you viewed him as a hero or villain. I didn't keep up with Kobe in his retirement and I am sure he was great dad/man in his years since retiring but the calls to retire his jersey across the league and cancel games seem excessive. Have moments to honor him, moments of silence, tribute videos, etc. Instead. I won't be upset if they decide to retire his jersey I just don't get it.

I feel for his wife and kids that lost their husband/father far too soon.
