Kobe showed up in my hometown a couple weeks ago
He came to watch a girl he trained play in a high school basketball game up in Washington. It made the local news and had everyone talking about how cool it was that he was in the gym. I knew people that were there at the game that had a heads up about his appearance but most people found out after the fact. He took pictures with several of the girls on the basketball team and some random people got to interact with him at restaurant and gas station etc.

Even then I thought how special is that for that girl and her high school team. How nice of Kobe to go out of his way to lend his support for someone he was coaching and mentoring. But I got the sense that was what he was doing and what he was up to....showing up anywhere and everywhere and inspiring people. Right up until his last breath. But those high school girls were with him in his final weeks. I’m sure his visit means that much more now. But cool to catch him going about doing good things. If I were him I’d probably be tempted to do their things than take in a girls high school b-ball game that probably meant the world to her and a lot of others. Doesn’t look like he was just sitting around in his retirement. He was on the move maximizing his time. What a life and legacy in a short span.
