I remember losing quite a few games because Malone and Stockton had fought a tough opponent one night and had nothing left in the tank the following day. Keeping something in the tank for the playoffs isn't the worst idea ever.

Given that people really want to see the stars night in and night out, It might make sense to either extend the season a couple of weeks or drop eight or ten games to eliminate those back to backs.
