I hate the DH. Too often, it becomes a spot for (by baseball standards) aging overweight guys who are a liability on defense, and can’t beat out an infield ground ball. If it’s not a stand-up double or an HR, it’s an out. That’s only slightly better than watching a pitcher hit.
I also hate being down 2-0 with 2 outs in the 7th with the bases loaded and the pitcher’s spot due up.
So, make it so the same player can’t be the primary DH 3 games in a row. You’ve either got to sit him the 3rd day, play him in the field for 5+ innings that 3rd day, or have him DH for 4 or fewer innings that 3rd day.
Or, make it so for every game you are the primary DH (5+ innings or 3+ at bats) you have to spend at least 1 game as a primary defensive player.
I wouldn’t mind the rule as outlined in this article either.
