What do I do if I can’t get contract employees to give me a w-9?

I had a few subs in my office that went over the $600 limit and I need to issue a 1099. But I can’t get them to send me a w-9. Can you still issue a 1099 without having a w-9?

You can get the info by simply asking for it. Yes a W-9 is helpful in gathering
