Having a bunch of experienced seniors and some fresh coaching blood are both huge helps.
But BYU is not without its faults. The biggest one I see is they tend to have stretches where they don't maintain their defensive intensity or their offensive discipline. They had a 25-point lead against USF and let it get cut to 7 before hitting a couple of shots at the end. The Dons outscored BYU by 18 to cut that lead to 7. That's inexcusable.
If they could play with more consistency within each game, they'd take a huge step forward. How many games this year did BYU let slip away? USF in the Bay Area for sure. Maybe SMC in Moraga? Boise St? SDSU?
