My 10 year old daughter rarely cries. A few months ago, she was playing soccer on her club team and took a nasty shot in the face by a girl quite a bit older than her. She went down to the ground crying. Since the coach doesn't like parents sitting next to the kids, I just motioned to the coach to see if everything was ok. She asked me to find some ice. I looked around and couldn't find any. A few minutes later, my daughter goes back in the game.

After the game, the coach (who is from South Africa and has an awesome accent) told us our daughter was bleeding inside her mouth. While I was looking around for ice, she realized she had some in her iced coffee. But my daughter wouldn't take any of it. So, the coach asked if it was because of her faith and my daughter said yes. They came up with the solution of washing the coffee off the ice by spraying water on it. After they did that, the coach went to hand my daughter the ice and it fell into the dirt. Without even hesitating, she picked it up, put it in her mouth and ran to go try to check back into the game. The coach laughed that my daughter wouldn't touch the coffee but had no problem putting dirt covered ice into her mouth.
