Good point, but I will say that some of the people looking at their phones while
driving aren’t texting, but following Waze or Google Maps or whatever app to their destination. Maybe it doesn't make much difference, and reading a map on your phone while driving is just as dangerous as texting while driving or driving drunk, but at least it seems a bit more excusable to me. At least it is directly related to their driving activity, and not necessarily something that could easily be put off or avoided.

Even my wife uses Waze on her phone most of the time when she isn’t going somewhere familiar, even though her car has a navigation system.
