Pope has shown them how the game has changed, how analytics can make them better players, and how the new basketball knowledge can make BYU a better team.
Rose was on the right track in the pre analytic years, Pope is on the right track now.
Rose believed intuition was first and foremost when intuition was most important, and continued to believe that way years after the data changed the game and refuted his style. Pope believes intuition has its place after all the modern data is considered. i.e consider all the data and then go with your gut.
Both are excellent media guys, both are good for BYU image, and both are big enough to be high level D-1 coaches.
