when he first came over to the states. I was shocked at how vain and plain old mean he was (granted, he was a Junior in high school at the time). He was constantly telling people about how he shaved all of his body (emphasis on all), and making fun of girls that were even a tiny bit overweight. He wasn't trying to be mean, I think he was just clueless. So used to being a pampered athlete. There were definitely cultural differences for him as well. I actually really liked the guy, but he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
When subbing back into a game, he once pulled his basketball shorts down to his knees to make sure he could get himself nice and adjusted, and get his jersey all the way tucked in. The crowd was pretty shocked to say the least.
After he transferred to Bishop Gorman I ran into him at the Thomas and Mack center (after his season was over). He (somewhat surprisingly seeing as how I was just an afterthought on the team) totally remembered me, came up to me, gave me a huge hug. He seemed to have changed quite a bit. I think over time that arrogance has mellowed into just extreme self assuredness.
