I wouldn't have a dog that doesn't come when you call it. My dog comes to me immediately when I call her name.
My neighbor had a dog for years that would ignore her like a defiant teenager. My neighbor would just keep calling her dog's name over and over with absolutely no effect. I told my wife, "After all these years that stupid dog still doesn't know its name."
