Currently, the basketball team is ranked 23rd in the AP Top 25 poll. We all know this. There are 353 Division 1 schools that compete in basketball. 129 schools participate in Division 1 football (FBS). The 23rd best team, out of 353, in NCAA basketball would be the equivalent of a top ten ranking in football (no. 9). That is almost unbelievable. Being ranked in the Top 25 for basketball is a major accomplishment.

I was a doubter that we would even win 20 games this season. While dealing with players injuries and Yoeli's suspension, Pope has done a sensational job of getting the team to buy in to the team first mentality. This team is fun to watch. I think they have a real shot at making it to the Sweet Sixteen if we get a favorable draw. He is to be heartily congratulated and I hope Tom gives him a nice Christmas bonus.
