The reason they removed it as one of the criteria is because it's redundant — if a team tanks at the end of the year it directly affects everything else they're already looking at. Their NET drops, their records vs. q1-q4 gets worse, their road record probably gets worse, etc. The chances of BYU being left out when none of the remaining games is a potential q3 or q4 loss is very low.
