1. Bringing the ball down to chest/waste level after a rebound or catching a pass.
2. Dribbling the ball down on the post- even the hard dribble move.
3. Bringing the hands forward when blocking or bothering a shot.
4. Not keeping your hands in a ready position to catch the ball at all times- especially when a guard is driving to the basket.
Kolby Lee and David Nixon finally had these habits beaten out of him this year. Hopefully Baxter will unlearn these bad habits soon.
If you are wondering why big men do these things, I challenge you to try jumping with a basketball without bringing the ball down. Or catching a basketball and not bring it down to your chest or lower level. It is unnatural to keep the ball up. It affects the way you pivot, pass and shoot. The current staff seems to know how to coach big men.
