BYU I Bleed Blue All-American
One thing not discussed yet on the board, Mark Pope was masterful at coaching
the game Saturday. Consider the following:
1. He pulled guys out as needed and rotated them back in almost perfectly. All of the big men as they picked up second fouls, but held out some before their third.
2. He pulled Haws for a brief time after the quick free throw line shot that missed. Haws needed a breather and it was evident.
3. Rotating Lee, Baxter, Seljaas, and Childs at various times for completely different offensive and defensive needs.
4. Utilizing defensive rotations to cut down on wide-open looks by Gonzaga. Only a couple of wide open shots in the game.
5. 22 assists on 33 makes for the game!! 66% assist ratio on shots means players are sharing the ball and looking for the extra pass.
6. 53.2 % shooting and held Gonzaga to 41.7 (remember this is one of the most efficient offenses in the nation.)
7. 20% shooting on threes for Gonzaga (great rotation defensively) and 41% for BYU!

He has been amazing at getting this team to buy in to his culture and it is as fun to watch as the Jimmer years. Open looks and sharing the ball. Incredible!
