Yoeli Childs is an incredible man:

ps://youtu.be/pxdPO6r7obQ

I was just rewatching the game and what I featured above really stuck out to me: After Yoeli's game-sealing dunk and exclamation point to possibly the most exhilarating moment of his career he was going crazy, pumping up the crowd, and soaking in his well-deserved moment. As he returned to the huddle, however, I noticed something incredibly special. He paused for a moment and talked to someone who had approached the player circle, someone who is only pictured for less than 5 seconds, and he went out of his way to give him a high five before being separated. Who was it? His name is Mac.

As a Bountiful native, Mac was has been an ever-present figure in my life. Diagnosed with a disability has limited him severely in many ways, his passion for sports and life in general have never seemed to decrease. I have never seen him without a smile on his face, and I have rarely seen him miss a Brave's game, both girls and boys. His joy radiates to all around him, and he has a long-standing tradition of shooting three-point shots during timeouts and halftime, and impressing the crowd with his rainbow triples. He really is an inspiration to us all as to how he deals with adversity. Now I don't know Mac's relationship with the team, or how he received a press pass for the Gonzaga game, but there he was.. all Forrest gump-esque. Maybe he shouldn't have been so close to the huddle, but what touched me incredibly was Yoeli's reaction. He smiled and gave him the time of day, dapping him up and making Mac's life, in a time that could have been all about him. Yoeli exemplifies what Cougar sports should be all about, and it's been a pleasure to have him here.
