I have been paying pretty close attention to the Coronavirus like many of you

have been. I have been thinking a lot about the numbers that are being discussed about how many cases are in a certain country and how many people have passed away due to the virus. It has me thinking about some factors that may cause these numbers to be unreliable.

Let's say a country says they have 100 people who have tested positively for the virus and that 2 of these people unfortuantely passed away. We now say that there is a 2% death rate for the virus in that country. But what I don't understand is, what if there were another 100 people who got it and it passed through them in 12 hours and they never even thought to be tested. That would take it down to a 1% death rate.

Essentailly my point is, how do we really know how many people have it? I am assuming that the CDC who puts out these numbers must factor this in. But I doubt the media makes such calculations while reporting.
