As a follow-up to my radon mitigation post a while ago, the system has now been installed
and I’m extremely glad I did it. I bought my own radon detector (I was highly skeptical that the mitigation company would just magically show that my levels were high regardless of results) and have monitored my house for the last little while. My long term reading was in the 3.5 pCi/L range with some short term readings being in the 1 range up to as high as 6-7. Those higher readings freaked me out and spurred my action.

After two days worth of readings, this mitigation system had dropped my levels to about .2 pCi/L, which is lower than what you’d experience outside. Because my home is fairly new and had a good amount of gravel under the foundation, they were able to use a smaller fan that I can’t hear unless I’m standing right next to it. I’m going to sleep a little better knowing that the air that my little kids are breathing is good.

Get your home checked and get it mitigated. Small price to pay and the benefits are definitely worth the cost.
