I completely understand how it's easy to blast the govt for a self-imposed recession...because we're seeing some of those impacts right now. It's immediate. The health crisis is distant from most of us (thankfully). But I guarantee you if the gov't took minimal action and the majority of the people in the US knew someone who got sick and many knew people who died, people would want to burn the gov't down. And all the big businesses would be criticized for wanting peoples money more than protecting their lives. etc etc etc
