You're right, you did say compromise, and I don't think it's a dirty word at all.
It would be great if they would compromise. Yours is a more balanced take. But it would also be great if lenders would compromise, and they may, but right now they are not, and there's a lot of uncertainty.

Landlords have mortgages, sometimes huge mortgages, that they have taken out to provide that housing. Hence contracts.
