Round of 32 games in Omaha, NE:

1 Kansas 91
8 Marquette 84

Kansas leads wire-to-wire in the first half, though Marquette keeps it close for much of it. Kansas uses a 15-4 run late in the first half to take a 16 point lead. Marquette is able to cut the deficit in half and is only down 37-45 at halftime. 5 minutes into the 2nd half Kansas utilizes a 10-0 run to expand the lead back to 18. A few minutes later Markus Howard goes on a personal 11-0 run to pull Marquette back within 6, and then a Brendan Bailey 3 pointer with just under 4 to play brings them within 3. However, that's the closest they would get as Kansas makes its shots down the stretch to secure the 91-84 win. Markus Howard has a monster game for Marquette with 35 points but it just wasn't enough as Kansas has the deeper team. Player of the game is Devon Dotson with 30 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

4 Louisville 98
5 Auburn

Samir Doughty scores 7 quick points and Auburn is up early 10-2. Lousville responds keeping it close and takes a 2 point lead after Darius Perry converts on a 4 point play. Louisville is still up 42-40 with 3 minutes left when they score on 4 straight possessions including three 3-pointers to extend the lead to 10. Louisville is up 57-50 at the break in a very fast paced and high octane 1st half. Auburn would get within 4 points with 16:25 to play, but that's the closest they would get at Louisville controls the entire 2nd half winning by 19. Louisville is on fire from 3 this game shooting 15-25 led by Jordan Nwora who was 7-11. Player of the game is Jordan Nwora with 29 points and 11 rebounds.

Round of 32 games in Sacramento, CA:

13 New Mexico St 86
5 West Virginia 81

New Mexico St is up much of the first half, but West Virginia keeps it fairly closer never getting down by more than 8. They put together a 14-3 run to take a 39-35 lead folling a 4 point play by Miles McBride and hang on to take a 39-38 lead into the half. The game remains tight in the 2nd half with several ties and lead changes with neither team leading by more than 4 for most the half. NMSU is able to eventually push out to an 8 point lead following a Terrell Brown 3 pointer with 3:26 left, but West Virginia responds with an 8-0 run to tie the game with only 37 seconds on the clock. Jabari Rice scores on an open 3 point jumper just 10 seconds later to put NMSU back up by 3. A quick layup by Miles McBride cust the lead to 1, but NMSU makes makes 4-4 FTs in the last 15 seconds to win their 21st consecutive game. Player of the game is Jabari Rice with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists.

15 UC Irvine 73
10 Texas Tech 63

UC Irvine leads for basically the entire 1st half. However, Texas Tech is able to keep it within 6. They make a late puch to tie it up with under 10 seconds left in the half, but Austin Johnson drills a shot from the FT line at the buzzer to give UCI the 34-32 lead at the half. UCI scores the first 5 points of the 2nd to go up by 7 and then pushes the lead to 10 with about 13 minutes left. UCI stays in control the rest the game as Texas Tech is never able to get any closer than 7 and UCI cruises to the 73-63 win. It was a very balance scoring attack by UCI with 7 players scoring between 7 and 13 points. Player of the game is Tommy Rutherford with 11 points and 10 rebounds. UCI and Little Rock become the first 2 15 seeds to make the Sweet 16 since Florida Gulf Coast did it in 2013.
