With these new rules, if an employee is unable to work due to their child’s school closure, do they qualify for both paid sick leave (2 weeks full pay) and Family Medical Leave (12 weeks 2/3 pay with the first 2 weeks being no pay)? In other words, we pay this employee 2 weeks of full pay, followed by 10 weeks of 2/3 pay? Also, if they stopped working last week due to school closure and I elected to continue paying them full pay, do I need to begin the 12 weeks on April 2nd, or can I count what I have already been doing this far? Also, if I lay them off now, will they no longer be employees when April 2nd comes, and therefore no longer be eligible for the program?
