I got a really bad case of the flu back around 2008. I had a fever in the 104-105 range for several hours and was bedridden for 3 days. It got into my lungs and I had a lingering cough for around 2-3 months. Is that what "permanent lung damage" is?

No mention of it in the article. Still experiencing symptoms two weeks later does not equate to permanent damage.
