I found out today that closed captioning does not bleep out cuss words.
I was watching the Disco Cafe episode of the office. When Phyllis Vance is dancing with Michael Scott, she throws out her back and lets out an expletive.
The audio is bleeped out. But the closed captioning had the mother of all swear words right up there on the screen.
