This instant transition to homeschool is fascinating. I finally have a day off so I'm helping my wife and son
figure out some of the technology stuff they've been struggling with.

What Google is doing with public education is amazing. My son has a Google Chromebook issued to him by the school and he uses it to complete assignments in Google docs when they show up on his Google calendar. Then the teacher sends him link to his Gmail account with a Google meeting code where they go over stuff Webcam to webcam.

There have been some hiccups but for the most part the system seems to be working. I have no idea how much he's actually learning but I think none of the other kids have figured out how to do the Google meeting thing so right now he's actually getting one on one private instruction from his teacher.

It's pretty cool how the technology to do all of this was already in place. Google doesn't actually directly make any money off of making this stuff available to teachers and students, do they?
