or if you prefer, furlough. We have about 350 employees that will all be furloughed. I think we have 300 confirmed cases in St Louis County and they did a total shutdown over the weekend when we were at 60 or so.
A friend works at Panera (HQ in STL) and all of their employees were furloughed on Monday. I feel so badly for people. I have continually wondered if we should have stopped at closing schools, churches and prohibiting all gatherings. I worry even more that we shut down too quickly and when we try to come out in however many weeks, we will be right back at it with more cases.
My company was on our way to a record year. At my company, we share our profits with all of our employees and there were going to be very large checks for them at the end of the year. Bye bye...that ain't happening anymore.
In Missouri, unemployment is capped at about $400 a week. Me and mine will be fine, but I am losing sleep worrying about people I care about at work. So difficult.
Nothing is officially planned, but I have been down this road before and if they shut our work off, we can't pay anyone.
