Flu death rates are always estimates.
Calling someone named for observing the death rate using the currently available data is a bit over the top. If you have better data, share it. Otherwise, don't present your hopes as facts.

The individual response to a flu virus can vary significantly. You always have a significant percentage of the population whose symptoms are not severe and therefore aren't counted. COVID-19 has the same problem, hence death rate will always be a guess.

What the actual death rate ends up being here will likely depend upon how many nursing homes, assisted living facilities, VA centers, etc, are hit. The one my wife managed has been on a strict lockdown protocol for two weeks and will continue that way for at least several more weeks.

Isolating and protecting high risk groups can lower the death rate significantly.
