CB athletes/coaches. Can you advise me on workouts for my son during shutdown?
I was so looking forward to track season, as I think my sophomore son could have done great this year. I really think our team could have taken state, and his 4x400 team could have won too. BTW, we are a little class C school in Montana, so he’s not competing against world class athletes every time he is on the track.

He is running right now, starting at 10 miles/week, and then working up. He runs the 400, 800, 1600, and was going to do the 300 hurdles. Finished bball 2 weeks ago, with the last day of the state tourney cancelled before they had the chance to play for the consolation trophy. Other than that he hasn’t been running since fall.

Can anyone recommend any running regimens to get in shape for track season, just in case a portion of it actually happens? I would love for him to be in shape so he can compete early, since the season would be so abbreviated.

Also, he wants to dunk the basketball. He is 5’10”, but likely still growing. I really doubt he has a chance to get over 6 feet, and even that would be a stretch. I’m only 5’10” and my wife is 5’2”. He is a decent leaper, but to dunk he has to be great leaper at his height. Any advice for improving his vertical?
