Imagine waking up every day, turning on the computer and every headline announced how many people died in car accidents or malaria or the flu the day before. Then we all sit around and discuss for hours and hours on end what today's numbers mean compared to numbers a day or two ago and how other countries' death charts might or might not track as ours do. Then they have a press conference at the White House and every talking head on the internet and cable news devote every breath to the trend lines.
I mean, I get it, this is a novel virus in so many ways. But in years to come, when they write books about this, I hope they remember to write how the hysteria had nothing to do with actual science and anything to do with how we actually solve these issues.
Everyone has turned into a weatherman for charts they have zero experience with. And we're all losing our minds over it.
