Tell me if this sounds fishy. Daughter works for a company in Provo doing soap
Making classes. She gets a w-2 for that. She is asked to coordinate all teachers, manage schedules, deal with customers and received a 1099 for that work from a different company. Sounds like this guy is trying to get out of paying taxes. What’s the recourse for someone in this case? I’m seeing she needs to file an SS-8 form with the IRS to challenge her classification. It looks very clear that she is an employee by all definitions. The tax difference is only a few hundred dollars but for a twenty something yo, that’s a big deal. What’s the best course of action?
