Because every year just about everyone has a cold or flu
And COVID-19 symptoms are largely the same. Now everyone thinks they had it already which is dangerous thinking in itself.

We can figure out how much it was around before for undiagnosed pneumonia deaths that also weren't flu and see if there was an increase over past years. We can be fairly confident in those results because we are seeing hospitalization rates similar to other nations.

Finally look at the Utah stats for an idea, only 5% of those tested consistently are coming back positive... which means a lot of people being tested just have the common cold or flu.

I predict that in two weeks everyone in the US will be singing a much different tune about this and a lot of this type of speculation will go away. And it isn't because things were going better than projected.

Fauci has publicly projected 100-200k deaths and that is with all the social distancing and quarantine protocols. Yikes.
