One thing that I don't understand is the lack of education being given to the
general public about prevention. This is a virus. It's novel. We have no cure. Treatment is pretty much managing the symptoms. But one thing I've been reading more an more often is that this disease is fairly preventable. Doctors in NY are learning a lot about this. That almost all of the cases are acquired from touching something with your hands, and then touching the eyes, nose and mouth. Most transmissions are happening in home settings with close contact for hours. The virus is actually wimpy. Soap and water wipes it out on contact, so does hand sanitizer.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that we should really start hammering home how we can protect ourselves. Once we understand that, people can become more empowered and less afraid.

Why isn't there any hand sanitizer available in stores? That to me is as important in prevention as respirators are for late stage disease. Why can't we boost hand sanitizer production, and or even offer them for free during this crisis. How hard can that be for a first world nation? I have not seen hand sanitizer in a store for over a month. It's cheap and prevents the number one way we acquire the disease.

We don't have to be afraid of this thing. We have to respect it and be educated on how to prevent it.

How do we not have hand sanitizer for everyone at this point? Crazy.
