focusing on one state, but 806 cases for 3 million people? That's it?

I don't mean to downplay anyone's individual struggle or loss to covid 19, but when has the US ever reacted or shut down to something like this? WWII?

I've purposely tried to stay away from too much discussion on this (maybe this is helped my outlook and maybe it's hampered it) but it just seems a bit much. I'm ready to have things back to normal where we argue about sports.
