Can be serious but the good news is those clots typically get you right away
So if you survive to diagnosis than the vast vast majority of time people do okay

I would be concerned about getting covid.. if she’s <40 I wouldn’t get too riled up. Above that I would be more vigilant - mostly just because of the age issue. I wouldn’t worry a ton about the combo but that’s without knowing her oxygen levels, heart function. Also depends if they put her in the ICU at a tertiary center (usually more serious) vs community hospital (usually less serious)

I would ask staff to limit any touching. I would personally wear a mask if I was her (few would recommend that). Wipe down everything with your own wipes. Limit all visitors.

Also it’s reasonable to ask how many covid positive patients are on that floor

Ask to go home as soon as possible.
