Since I can't go out see a podiatrist right now...was hoping someone could give me some free online info via the CB "hotline"
When I am just running errands...walking around the house...going out socially....I usually wear my running/walking shoes - medium end Sauconys. Every so often...if I'm in a hurry getting dressed...I wind up lacing them too tight (apparently). By the end of the day...my left ankle is really sore...and by the next morning...it is completely swollen up and hurts so badly I can hardly put any weight on it. It feels EXACTLY like back in my high school basketball days when I would roll an ankle. It takes the better part of a week for the swelling to subside and the pain to abate. I treat it with ibuprofen as my anti-inflammatory of choice and stay off it as much as possible.
I've googled to find out what this might be. At first...I thought it sounded a bit like a Lisfranc...but the pain is across the top and side of my ankle and not the bottom of my foot. Then I read something about a condition called "lace bite." I also came across something called Extensor Tendonitis.
Can anyone help me out with what this is...how to prevent it going forward and best treatment options next time it occurs?
Sincere thanks in advance.
