Don’t tell me it’s to spread the truth. Your posts invariably focus on the worst of this crisis. It seems to be all about pushing the narrative that this is far worse than most people believe and that it’s not just the old and at-risk who should tremble.

It’s getting old. I think that with very few exceptions most people on this board have taken this very seriously and are taking caution. There are differing opinions on what we should do to combat this but by and large most people think it should be handled carefully. I, and others, have probably tended towards positive posts as much as you’ve tended towards the negative. You’ll forgive us if we try and inject some hope into this yewting rats nest of a pickle we’re all facing. Right now hope is about all any of us have.

What do you gain by being the voice of doom and gloom? It’s got to wear on you as much as it wears on all of us. I’m sure there are exceptions to this rule but by and large I’d be willing to wager that the fear mongers of the board are probably in professions that haven’t been hit hard. It’s a lot easier to advocate insanely long quarantines when your paycheck is fairly secure regardless of the length of quarantine.

I have fear mongers in some of my family and friends text groups. They wear on me there too. They stir up the others on the strings and it takes some effort to restore any semblance of calm and rationale. Share your facts and share your opinions. But for the love of Pete mix in some optimism and hope at least once in awhile. You know that skit on SNL about Debbie downer? You ever notice how at the end of the skit everyone leaves the room and leaves her alone? There may just be a lesson there.
