Because you stated it yourself:

“Yes, young people can then spread COVID to others. But aren't we expecting and needing the bug to spread? It's not going away folks. Not anytime soon.”

Leaders don’t agree with you that “we need the bug to spread” they are literally doing everything to slow the spread. And I think you know why they are doing that too.
