That takes guts, especially because he had been so vocal in downplaying the risk of the COVID pandemic, apparently very publicly on some kind of radio show that he does. So kudos to him for recognizing his mistake, admitting it, and apologizing for it.

That said, he doesn't really have any other options if he wants to retain some credibility as a medical doctor. We don't have a perfect knowledge of this virus, but we definitely know enough to say that all the downplaying was absolutely wrong. If he had continued on his previous course, he would have looked childishly stubborn and totally foolish.

Gonna be interesting to see how CBers respond. Will people be brave enough to admit that they were wrong? Or double-down despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary? Or just quietly stop the downplaying and hope nobody remembers that you were wrong in the first place? Gonna be very interesting.
