Lots of things work in a Petri dish that don’t work in real life
Not a doctor, but read an article the other day about this (can’t find it to share unfortunately). Basically it’s a necessary, but not sufficient step in finding a treatment. There’s been a number of drugs that have shown promise, but the human body is such a different environment than a cell culture that many/most don’t end up working as expected. If a real doctor wants to expound on this, that would be great.
