The first person I know with the virus died yesterday morning.
She was 37, really bright, second-in-command of her large organization, and mother of several young children. She was also a runner, slender, and seemingly healthy. She had very minor symptoms for about a week that they thought were allergies and that they didn't even consider were COVID. She suddenly fell very ill on Sunday night, Monday afternoon they took her to the hospital, and even Monday night she had stabilized with some oxygen, but early-morning she suddenly crashed and by Tuesday morning she was gone.

It's one thing to look at the statistics and know that statistically my wife and I are about as safe as can be. But having someone that you know, in a very similar situation as you, get hit like that, really changes one's perspective.
