Wow. So lab technicians who would process the tests have been laid off?
Seems pretty short-sighted on the part of the lab company. If the state has an ongoing need to process these tests I don't see why they couldn't bring their staff back.

This is similar to all the medical personnel we are hearing about who are getting laid off/having their pay reduced. Why aren't their employers working a strategy to get many of these folks in the fight and on the front lines? We keep hearing about not wanting to overwhelm the medical system but this is an example where we could be doing so much more to increase capacity and we are not. Cross-training individuals to help in critical care, setting up temporary ICU facilities, coordinating needed medical supplies and personnel across state lines, etc.
