Are you sure there has been a spike in the total number of deaths in the world?

This is an honest question. I hadn't heard that there was a spike in the total deaths. If there were a spike in the total deaths, I think you are absolutely right, that COVID would have to be a potential candidate for the reason for the spike.

But if there weren't a spike, it seems to me that any deaths allocated to COVID, may have previously been allocated to the flu or pneumonia by default.
