I don't know if the connectors matter, it's possible they would need to be replaced as well.
I assume they're just double female junctions, so that the cable in the wall is just a standard HDMI cable.

I bet the display check is only checking your TV’s resolution, not the cabling. I’d bet it’s the cable behind your wall
