realized our seats were directly in front of Jerry Sloan's seats; he was already sitting down with his group of four people. I told my sons (three of whom were with me), "do not bother Coach Sloan AT ALL; you can nod at him as we walk in, but that is it" — and then we walked in and sat down in front of him.
And here is the cool part: he tapped one son (who was 21 and fresh off the mission) on the shoulder and said "would you mind taking our picture?" So my son was stunned but took the picture, and then Jerry spent the next ten minutes before tip off talking to my boys; and then he offered to take pictures with them. He was so nice about it.
I think the picture thing was his way of breaking the ice and letting him know that he open to conversation.
