Is that they get continuous feedback from all of their cars all of the time. So they have hundreds of thousands of cars providing feedback in the real world on a daily basis. No other electric car company has that size of fleet and thus they don’t have access to that feedback.
Where this is key, for Tesla, is in their full self driving functionality. Every time a driver overrides autopilot, the car sends that to Tesla for analysis so that their artificial intelligence team can figure out how to improve the software and the AI chip in the car so that it will be less likely in the future that the driver would need to over ride auto pilot. Essentially, Tesla has made every owner into a unpaid tester of their software. They have millions of miles of autopilot in real life that they can analyze to make their software better.
Other companies developing self driving rely on a few cars and driver to go out and test the product. Tesla has orders of magnitude more real world data to use to make their product better.
