I'm expecting a big down year for Utah this year. The losses on defense aren't just starters, most of the 2-deep is gone at every position except DL. A good DL can cover a lot of mistakes, but I'm worried. Brand new secondary at all 5 spots, new LB across from Lloyd, replacing Anae and Fotu and Penisini on DL, etc. There are very few snaps coming back on the defense. Sure, Utah's defense is usually good, but a bad year is not impossible, and I think this year it looks likely.

The offense might be great (losing spring ball won't help), but a new QB is always an unknown, and losing Moss will matter. Combine those two things and I'm hoping to get to 7-5 or 8-4 as a best case scenario, and 5-7 won't surprise me.

Now 2021 could be another Pac-12 South title year, because the 2020 team has very few senior starters. Just Bentley at QB (if he starts over Rising, which isn't guaranteed), Moala/H. Pututau/Tonga at DT (only 1 will start, but I think all will play), Nacua at WR, Bam at OT (if he starts), Tupai at DE (if he starts), and Umana at OL. So the only guaranteed senior starters are Nacua and Umana plus one of the DTs. Even if all of these guys start, that's only 7 senior starters. That looks like a great 2021 Utah team.
