My nephew sent me a picture of a large fish he caught today. He wondered if I knew what it was--which I didn't, even though I've done a fair amount of freshwater fishing in many states. After a quick internet search, I learned it was a freshwater drum. Never seen one, and didn't even know there were freshwater drum, although I knew there were ocean drum.
They're big ol' fish. Article says they're actually good eating despite their reputation.
Evidently they have the largest latitudinal range in the USA--at least according to the article I read. I would've guessed catfish or bass.
Who knew? I've never met a fisherman that fishes for them.
